FAQ

Try Street Kings with a one-week unlimited class pass. Attend as many classes as you like to explore different styles and instructors.

• Credit Toward Enrollment: Sign up for a class on the same day as your final trial, and we’ll apply the $20 toward your registration.

• Pre-Scheduled & Paid in Advance: Trial passes must be purchased ahead of time, and classes need to be scheduled in advance.

You can sign up for select classes year round, depending on availability, but some may have seasonal restrictions. Most of our classes will close for enrolment in November, but we may have some ongoing options. Please inquire for specific classes. 

Seasonal Classes: Payment and enrolment must start in the same month, or within 1 week of the next month. We cannot hold spots for future months.

Progressive Programs (e.g. 8 week course): The full program fee is charged as a one-time payment. Students may start after the official start date, but there is no prorating.

We offer a flexible cancellation policy.

Just provide at least 10 days’ notice by email before the next month, and your last month’s deposit will cover that month’s classes.

Competitive programs require a full 10 month commitment fro September to June.

Our short term progressive programs do not have a cancellation option.

Class sizes vary depending on age, style, and the needs of the students.

Some classes have 5–8 dancers for more focused instruction, while others have 10–20 dancers to create the fun, social, high-energy atmosphere that Hip Hop was born from.

If you have a preference, let us know and we’ll help you find the class that’s the best fit for your child.

Age brackets are based on the school year and as of Sept 30.  

*Some Progressive programs have different age requirements. 

If a student is able to pass the curriculum requirements, through examination, they can move to the next level. We offer private lessons if they need extra practice before moving up. Please email us if you have further questions about this.

While we don’t have specific classes built out for this, we are an inclusive studio. Please email us if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s specific needs.

Burnaby:

• Saturdays: Street parking available in front of the studio.

• Weekdays: Parking on either side of Alpha Avenue, half a block from the studio.

Langley:

• Parking lot available, plus street parking nearby.

Yes, we can set them up with a $20 week pass and they can come try any classes they like. 

 They will need to email us, to let us know which class(es) they’re interested in trying out and set up an account with us first. 

If they sign up for regular classes, ask about our referral bonus!

Yes, you can attend classes in any of our locations without an additional registration fee. You’ll also receive a multi-class discount and can make up any missed classes at the other location.

Yes, as long as there is space in the class and you meet the curriculum and age requirements. After class enrolments close for the season, we cannot accommodate class switches, unless it’s within the same dance genre and skill level. This is due to progressive curriculum. 

If you are switching from a Progressive to a Seasonal Class, or vice versa, there may be additional fees.

Students are allowed up to 3 make-up classes per season.

Make-ups are not guaranteed and must be pre-approved by Street Kings staff via email. Once a make-up class is confirmed, it cannot be changed.

Beginners can join the pre-competitive program by simply registering, and our Director of Dance will place you on a team. Note that there is a 3 absence max per season for all competitive teams. 

Throughout the year, there will be training requirements, including both choreography and technique classes.

For Intermediate and Advanced levels, an audition is required, along with an audition fee. We will announce competitive auditions in the Spring.

Yes, we offer private lessons! Please email us for pricing and to book a private lesson. 

Attendance at the Year End Workshop (the day before the Battle) is encouraged for non-competitive dancers, but not required. Competitive dancers must attend.

The $50 workshop fee is charged on April 1 for all dancers in applicable programs, whether or not they attend. This does not apply to Little Tots or Tots.

Yes, we offer choreography sessions for the Bride and Groom, Groomsmen, Bridesmaids, as well as bachelor and bachelorette parties! Please email for more details.

Yes, we have adult sizes. Please email us to purchase apparel. 

If your T-shirt or hoodie is damaged or no longer fits, please email us within 60 days of purchase. We can assist with an exchange or help you order a new size if necessary.

We recommend purchasing a slightly baggier size, as it allows room to grow and fits the style of hip hop dance, which is typically more comfortable with looser clothing.

For Little Tots and Tots classes, parents are welcome to watch from inside the studio as long as space permits.  However, throughout the season, we will work towards having the parents step out of the classroom to help foster a sense of independence over time.

For Mini’s, Junior, and Senior classes, we ask parents to watch from outside the doorway, even if your child is comfortable with you being in the room. We have a variety of personalities in class, and many students can feel nervous with others watching. 

This approach helps encourage independence and creates the best environment for all students to grow. Parents are always welcome to join for the last 5 minutes of class to watch the freestyle circle.

Yes, you’re welcome to film the last 5 minutes of your child’s class! Feel free to tag us @streetkingsstudio if you post on social media.

To cancel your class enrolment, please provide a 10-day written notice (via email) before the 1st of the next month.

Your last month’s deposit will be applied to your final billing date, which is the month following your cancellation. Any remaining balances must be paid in full within 30 days, and discontinuing attendance does not automatically cancel your enrolment.

To cancel enrolment for a progressive, it is the same procedure, however we do not offer a credit and the lump sum payment would be forfeited.

If classes are affected by extreme weather, power outages, or acts of God, we will notify you by email:

• By 9:00 am on weekdays
• By 8:00 pm on Friday for Saturday classes
• By 8:00 pm on Saturday for Sunday classes

We follow school district guidelines in our local neighbourhood, if they close, we close. Please prioritize safety and don’t risk driving in unsafe conditions. Your child’s attendance won’t be affected if you choose to stay home.

We do not reschedule non-performing classes.

We do not offer refunds. 

For the comfort of all our members, we kindly ask that pets not be brought to the studio.
